I'm reluctantly offering my personal JP Astrocraft with Lockwood 32 inch f/3.6 optics for sale to a serious observer.
This scope was used almost exclusively at the Winter Star Party and Okie-Tex where it was enjoyed by many .
The optics were removed and stored indoors between events to preserve the coatings.
Views, especially Globulars and Planetary Nebula at high power are spectacular. True "WOW!" factor.
The scope would be ideal at a permanent dark site although transport in a van or proper trailer is possible.
Views with a Night Vision device are "SPECTACULAR".
Specific features of this instrument include the following:
* Baltic Birch structure with Cherry Stain and 5 coats of Helmsman Marine Spar Varnish
* Roller bearings on azimuth and Roller plus Teflon pad on altitude for smooth motions.
* ServoCAT / Nexus with Stalk. Wireless control via Sky Safari or similar is possible. Powered Ground Board.
* Wired and Wireless ServoCAT Handpads.
* 27 point Plop designed tip out JPA mirror cell with Roller Whiffletree edge support fo easy mirror installation.
* Multiple Boundary Layer fans including front center, four corners and exhaust , all with speed controls.
* JPA Joined Truss System assure positive registration and easy assembly.
* Pull - Down winch system and a truss spreader allow UTA installation without a ladder.
* Plug in dual wheels and long wheelbarrow handles for scope movement and loading in a vehicle.
* The 6 inch secondary is held with a JPA Offset spider to best resist wind shudder and hold collimation.
* Feathertouch focuser with large focus knob and a SIPS Coma Corrector.
* Astrosystems Secondary Dew heater and a Big Dob heater controller wired to main power.
* Astrosystems Light Shroud and Scope Cover
* Astrocrumb Filter Slide with two slides, 5 Lumicon Nebula filters and a dual slide storage case
Also include is my Strathmore Eight foot aluminum orchard/Asrronomers Ladder.
Not included in the above price is the Televue NP-101 Refractor shown in one attached picture. The NP-101 and a stainless steel counterweight are available for an additional $2000.
The current replacement cost of this scope today would approach $50,000.
